Underwater Rescue
Introduction:
Underwater Rescue is a fan fiction tale about Sandy rescuing Bud who is trapped inside an underwater shark cage. Luke Halpin's powerfully built legs provide the scenes for the daring rescue.
This story is based on Season 2, Episode 50, Flipper and the Shark Cage.
Story:
Bud is trapped underwater in a shark cage...and his air is running out!

But Porter got hurt trying to move the cage on his own, and there's no time to get equipment.
Who will rescue Bud?! Only one chance...

| Porter: Sandy, it's up to you! |

Without a second's delay, Sandy grasps the cage firmly and starts to push up on the cage.
Bud is amazed when he sees Sandy's biceps.
Bud recalls how strong Sandy's arms are:
As Bud thinks of Sandy's arm strength, he continues to watch Sandy struggle to lift the cage...
Bud notices that Sandy's legs are highly tensed during the lift. Bud remembers how strong Sandy's leg muscles are.
As Bud watches, he suddenly hears a strange metallic sound...the shark cage is moving! Bud can hardly believe his eyes as he watches the huge cage rising up...

| Bud: (eyes widening)"I can't believe it!! Sandy is lifting the cage all by himself!" |

The heavy weight of the shark cage is supported by Sandy's legs. Bud prays that his brother's legs will not collapse under the terrific strain.
Meanwhile, Sandy pours every ounce of energy into his legs...

Bud is in a panic - he barely has a minute of air left!
Can Sandy lift the cage any more?? Sandy uses his legs as he strains to lift the cage higher...
Pushing his legs to the breaking point, Sandy continues to lift the cage, higher and higher, until...

Bud is saved! The exhausted Sandy returns to the launch and pulls off his diving gear. Whew, I'm beat!
Back home, Bud is safe and sound...

| Porter: Thank you, Sandy, for being there for Bud when I was injured. |
Porter: Bud, your brother was very brave the way he lifted that cage. |
Bud: Yeah, that was amazing! |
Sandy: I'm still sore from lifting that cage! |

Later, Sandy has some stern advice for Bud.

Bud: "You're right. No one could've lifted that trap all by himself like you did!" |
